The "Shaft House" is one of the more breath taking ruins of the Gobernador era of the Navajo ruins. It was constructed on the side of a canyon wall about 250 feet up from the bottom. This site is very defensible!

Just because you can see the ruins doesn't mean that you can get to them.

Here is Matt Ormsby looking for a way to get into the ruins from below. I doubt if they had much of a problem with sleep walkers!

Here you can see the "shaft" where the site gets it's name. It has a small entrance in the bottom and a very crude ladder inside that provides access to the rooms on the upper level.
